Leather and suede are skins, not fabric. They need cleaning that removes soil without stripping the oils that keep them soft — which is exactly why they should never go through an ordinary dry cleaning cycle.
600 Loring Ave, Swampscott, MA 01907 — walk-ins and drop-offs welcome
Leather jackets, suede coats, shearling, fur trim and leather skirts each need their own approach. Suede has a delicate nap that has to be re-raised after cleaning; smooth leather needs to be re-oiled so it does not dry out and crack; shearling has both a skin side and a wool side, and each is treated differently.
We inspect the piece with you at drop-off — colour, finish, wear at the cuffs and elbows, and any staining — and tell you honestly what can and cannot be improved. Leather often deepens slightly in tone after cleaning, and a badly faded panel will not come back to new; you will know that before we start, not after.
Leather work takes longer than standard dry cleaning, so bring winter pieces in before the cold weather hits. Call 978-745-4975 to ask about a specific garment.
Walk-ins and drop-offs are always welcome during business hours.
